How to Add an Opt-in Form For Your Mailing List to Your Facebook Profile

These instructions are for adding an aWeber opt-in form, but they’ll work for any other mailing list service that gives you HTML code for your form (not Javascript).

First, you’re going to need a Facebook Application called Profile HTML. So, in one window, go log into your Facebook account and look down at the bottom left of the window.

Click on ‘Applications’. Then click on ‘Browse More Applications’ from the menu that pops up.

At the top left, you’ll see a box that says ‘Search Apps’. Enter Profile HTML in the box and hit enter. Install the application.

Now, open another tab in your browser and log in to your mailing list service. Get the code for your opt-in form (in aWeber, it’s on the Web Forms menu tab. Make sure you’ve selected the correct mailing list, if you have more than one.)

Copy all the code in that box and paste it into the code box for Profile HTML over in your Facebook account.

Click ‘Preview’. If you like what you see – click ‘Save’!

Click the button at the top of the page to add it to your profile…and go look! It’s there!

Hey Suzanne, I just decided this year that I want to build out my facebook page and make it look really spiffy. And one of my stumbling blocks was gonna be that i didn't know how to do what you just described above.

Apart from the fact that I now know how to do it, I am jazzed that you knew it was something I was gonna _need_! Now how the heck do you DO that???!!!???
